The end of the year has a peculiar energy. For many of us, it’s a whirlwind of wrapping up work, squeezing in last-minute errands, and navigating the chaos of holiday schedules. Before we know it, we’re stumbling into January, disoriented and already behind.
But what if this season didn’t have to feel like a frantic sprint to the finish? What if, instead, you could use this time to pause, reflect, and reset?
That’s the vision behind The Year-End Review.
The Backstory
Back in December of 2015, I found myself crash-landing the year in much the same way many of us do—carrying the weight of unresolved questions, unfinished tasks, and unprocessed experiences from the year before. I was also full of excitement and optimism for the coming year—I was eager to set new goals, plans and resolutions. But something felt off.
I realized I was missing an opportunity to truly end the year well, to bring closure to what had passed and clarity to what lay ahead. That year had been FULL. Full of change, full of good things, hard things, and everything in between.
So, I created a simple set of reflection questions to help me pause and look back before rushing forward. Over time, that practice evolved into The Year-End Review resource I’m sharing with you today.
Why Reflection Matters
Reflection isn’t just a feel-good exercise; it’s essential for growth. By intentionally looking back on the year, we can:
Celebrate wins: It’s easy to forget how far we’ve come when we’re focused on what’s next. Reflection helps us honor our progress.
Learn from losses: Every challenge carries a lesson, but only if we take the time to notice it.
Gain clarity: Reflection brings into focus what truly matters, helping us prioritize and move forward with intention.
Let go: Unprocessed experiences have a way of lingering like residue in our hearts. A year-end review allows us to release what’s no longer serving us.
What’s Inside the Year-End Review?
This resource is designed to guide you through a thoughtful process of closure and preparation. It’s a free 10-page PDF that includes 21 questions organized in three sections. Inside, you’ll find prompts like:
Where did I win this year? Celebrate the moments that made you proud.
What did I lose this year? Acknowledge the losses and let yourself grieve.
What do I never want to forget? Capture the memories and lessons you want to carry forward.
Where do I still need to heal? Get honest with yourself about the wounds that need mending.
Whether you spend an hour or a full day with these questions, the goal is to help you close the chapter on this year with gratitude and intention—and step into the next with clarity and confidence.
